I feel this whole argument is pointless. I believe knowledge cant be measured by the things you do and accomplish. Who is to say the billionaire business man is smarter then the homeless man on the street. Just because i don't know all about history and i read less then my parents did does not make me a dumber person.
I think the only reason Mark Bauerlein and the people that agree with him feel the way they do is fear. I think they are afraid of the changes taking place in the world. I don't think they are ready for the world to change into a technology driven society but they have realized they are to late so they come up with poor arguments to prove why technology is a bad thing. But is it fair for them to call me dumb because we are informed in different subjects? Mr. Bauerleein calls me dumb because i don't read classic books, but it is fair for me to call him dumb because he doesn't know how to blog or create a powerpoint presentation? Of course not, thats not fair, so before Mr. Bauyrelein refers to myself and my entire generation as dumb id like him to meet me and then make his decision.
PS i think it is hilarious that we argue and make valid points against this man on a blog, one thing in which makes us a dumb generation. We have all obviously learned from this technological experience and proved him wrong simply by created this whole project. lol (laugh out loud sorry Mr. Bauerleein)

dan, this was a great post. you hit the nail on the head. i agree that the older people are afraid of change, and that they think it is unhealthy to become so relied upon technology, but that is the way the world works. before cars, there were horses and buggys. but now just about everyone has a car - thats how change works. we become more efficient, more convenient, but with that change comes laziness and reliability on something other than yourself. but if you know how to use the technology available wisely, then it is a positive change that can make the world a better place.
Dan, you covered everything and I agree with everything that you said. I also would like to mention that I did not consider that Mr. Bauerlin would maybe not know how to log or use computers as well as us. As we are seeing, our world is turning into a computerized world and being able to use new technology can be advantageous to you and benefit you.
I agree with every thing you said in your post Dan! I also agree with you when you say that older people fear technology because they don't know how to use it. They shouldn't judge us because we learn differently and use alternative tools to do so. The way things were back then are completely different from the way things are now
Correct!!! Thats all I need to say. I agree that I don't read a lot, but I don't believe that I am stupid. I feel that I farther advanced in technology than most. Ok lets say more than efficent. For awhile I did not believe that right now my use of computers would help, but in the future it would. Technology is only advancing the way we learn and could be agrued that our generation is actually smarter.
